Do Owl accessories fit both 2500 and 3500 Sprinter models?

Rear door carriers, bike racks, and lighting mount to the door or body and fit both 2500 and 3500 Sprinters the same way. Some products, like the tire carrier, are offered in separate 2500 and 3500 versions, so check the specific product page before ordering.

What's the difference between 2019+ and pre-2019 Sprinter fitment?

The 2019-and-newer VS30 Sprinter mounts Owl carriers through its factory door hinges, either 180 or 270 degrees. The older NCV3 Sprinter, built from 2007 to 2018, uses a bracket-mounted system instead, since it doesn't have the same hinge design. The two aren't interchangeable, so always confirm your model year before ordering.

What gear can I install in my own garage?

Nearly everything. Most Owl accessories are built for DIY installation with step-by-step video guides, and many rear door products only require a single drilled mounting hole using a template. Suspension and some bumper kits take more time and a second set of hands, but you won't need a fabrication shop for most of the lineup.

A D (2,800-3,000 lbs.) or an E (3,195-3,750 lbs.) rating is often sufficient for a vehicle with a minimal to moderate gear haul, although an F (3,960-4,415 lbs.) may be necessary if you intend to install a water tank, heavier bumper, and other year-round living-to-explore features.

What offset is recommended for a lifted Sprinter?

A 38mm to 45mm negative offset is ideal for a lifted Sprinter 2500, while the 3500 needs a Super Single wheel setup with a 110mm to 123mm negative offset in the rear and 72mm for the front. Both arrangements better accommodate larger, more rugged aftermarket wheels (17 inches x 8 inches or larger), limit strut damage, and position the tires outward, away from the braking and suspension systems.

Are these wheels compatible with both 2500 and 3500 models?

No, the 2500 requires standard wheels with a 6x130mm bolt pattern and tires with a 4,200 lbs. load capacity, while the 3500 needs a Super Single setup, as it features dual rear wheels with a 6x205mm bolt pattern and requires tires with a 4,600 lbs. load rating.

We make both standard and Super Single Owl Sixty and standard and Super Single Talon tires in both configurations. For wheels, use the Rambler R35V for the 2500 and the Super Single for the 3500.

Do new wheels require a re-torque after installation?

Yes, re-torquing newly installed overland wheels after 50 to 100 miles improves contact with the hub and better secures their hardware. Over this distance, the new wheels begin to adapt to the load, but heat exposure can cause the lug nuts to loosen.

At this point, tighten the lug nuts with a hand torque wrench to the manufacturer's specifications to maintain stability on uneven, rough terrain.
