Tire & Ground Clearance

For customers who crave a higher stance and larger tires, for either function or aesthetics.

Stock Sprinters have about 9" of clearance—enough for most, but not for every trail.

With a 2" lift and 35" tires, our Trail Lifted kit delivers up to 14" of total clearance for those who go all-in when traveling off-road.

Fully Adjustable Shocks

1 - Full Soft: For off-road, rain, snow, or other inclement conditions.

2 - Adjustable: Adjust from full stiff to full soft. We prefer to keep our shocks on 4 or 5 for everyday driving around town.

3 - Full Stiff: Highway driving and trailering. This is ideal for long trips, especially those with wind.

Suspension Upgrades for 2500 & 3500 Sprinter Vans

Most Sprinter van suspension systems leave the factory tuned for an empty cargo van, not a fully built-out camper. Once the conversion weight is added, especially over the rear axle, the stock setup gets pushed past its working range. Leaf springs compress, travel shortens, and the van starts riding on its bump stops.

The result is a harsh ride, reduced control, and less margin for error at highway speed or on rough roads. Owl's Arrow Suspension kits, engineered with Falcon for both the 2500 and 3500 platforms, are designed to restore the Sprinter van's suspension to its proper range. Kits start at $3,995 for the Trail 2500 and run up to $8,995 for the fully adjustable Trail Pro, so builders can match a system to how loaded their van is and how far off-road it actually goes.

Ride Quality vs. Load Capacity: What to Prioritize

The right balance between comfort and capacity depends on where the van spends its time. Owl's Arrow shocks are adjustable across three modes. Full soft handles wet, snowy, or rough terrain. Meanwhile, a middle range (most owners run four or five) works for everyday driving, and full stiff is built for highway trips and trailering.

For builders prioritizing ground clearance, pairing a two-inch lift with 35-inch tires can bring total clearance to 14 inches, up from roughly 9 inches stock. Owners who want more front-end control under heavy conversion can add the Arrow Pro Struts, a three-inch inverted-tube strut that's also adjustable.

Faqs

Do I need a suspension upgrade if I've added a heavy conversion?

Likely yes. Factory Sprinter suspension is tuned for an empty cargo van, and conversion weight over the rear axle can overload it, leading to collapsed leaf springs, reduced travel, and a van riding on its bump stops. That shows up as a harsh ride, reduced control, and even an unexpected trigger of the factory wind-assist system during crosswinds. An Arrow kit returns the suspension to its designed operating range.

What's included in the Owl Arrow full kit?

Each Arrow kit includes Falcon-engineered piggyback reservoir shocks with three-way adjustable damping, sized for the 2500 or 3500 platform. For more front-end control under heavy build, the optional Arrow Pro Struts add a 3-inch inverted-tube strut that's also adjustable. Exact kit contents vary by tier (Lite, Standard, or Pro), so confirm inclusions for your specific model at checkout.

Will a suspension upgrade affect my Sprinter's factory warranty?

Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer can't void your entire vehicle warranty just because you installed an aftermarket part, such as a suspension kit. To deny a claim, they'd have to show the suspension itself caused the specific failure. Unrelated systems, such as your engine or transmission warranty, remain intact.

How much lift does the Arrow kit provide?

Owl's lifted setup pairs a two-inch lift with 35-inch tires to bring total ground clearance up to about 14 inches, compared to roughly nine inches on a stock Sprinter. That's aimed at owners who want meaningfully more trail clearance, not just a taller stance. Lower-profile kits are also available for builders who want improved ride quality without maximizing lift.

Is professional installation required for a suspension kit?

Installation isn't required to purchase a kit, but it is required to unlock Owl's extended warranty. Have your system installed at an Owl Offroad Pro Installation location and you'll get four years or 40,000 miles of coverage, backed by Owl's install network. You can select an install location directly at checkout.

Why do I actually need a suspension upgrade?

Unlike most vehicles, Sprinters leave the factory with suspension designed for an empty cargo van. Once converted into an adventure van, the added weight, especially over the rear axle, overloads the factory system. The result is collapsed leaf springs, reduced travel, and a van that is effectively riding on the bump stops. That means a harsh ride, poor control, and compromised safety.

One of the most noticeable side effects is the factory wind assist system triggering during crosswinds. When the suspension is out of its proper operating range, the van becomes unstable, often activating ABS in a way that feels abrupt and unsettling. Bringing the suspension back into its proper window solves this.

Why use Owl's?

We have installed more Sprinter suspension systems than anyone, and that experience led to a simple conclusion. None of the existing options fully met our standards. So we built our own.

The Arrow Suspension was developed in partnership with Falcon, combining their shock engineering expertise with real world testing from our drivers and team. While many systems focus on external appearance, true performance comes from internal valving. That is where we invested the time. Months of testing, tuning, and refinement resulted in what we believe is the most balanced and capable Sprinter suspension available today.

Does it matter if I go on or off road?

On road and off road performance require very different characteristics. On pavement, you want control, feedback, and confidence. Off road, you need compliance, articulation, and traction.

The Arrow system features adjustable dampers that allow you to quickly tune the ride with a few clicks. From highway stability to dirt road comfort, the system adapts to how and where you drive.

Arrow Shocks - 4x adjustable Falcon piggyback reservoir aux dampers with three adjustment modes.

Optional Upgrade - Arrow Pro Struts upgrade the OEM shocks for even better performance. Massive 3" inverted tube struts are also adjustable, giving you even better control of all that front end weight
