Install | Sherpa Mini for B2

Step-by-Step Instructions for Installing the Sherpa Mini on a B2 Carrier for Your Sprinter Van

  1. Prepare for Installation
Ensure your Sprinter Van is ready for the installation by placing the B2 carrier in a stable position. It's recommended to drill the Sherpa Mini holes into the B2 before mounting the B2 onto the Sprinter Van for easier handling.

  2. Unbox the Sherpa Mini Kit
Inside the Sherpa Mini kit, you will find:

    • The Sherpa Mini panel.
    • Eight bolts: four are 1-inch long and four are 1.25-inch long.
    • Washers and nuts for securing the bolts.
  3. Remove Bike Tubes (If Applicable)
If you have bike trays mounted on the B2 carrier, remove them before proceeding. You may use the 1-inch hardware that came with the bike trays if necessary.

  4. Position the Sherpa Mini
Ensure the Owl Vans logo on the Sherpa Mini is upright and positioned correctly.

    • Tip: It's easy to accidentally install the plate upside down, so double-check the orientation.
  5. Install the Top Bolts (Loosely)
Using the 1-inch bolts, start by mounting the top of the Sherpa Mini to the B2.

    • Take a 1-inch bolt and a washer, insert the bolt through the front of the Sherpa Mini, and then add another washer on the backside, followed by a nut.
    • Do this for both top bolts, leaving them slightly loose to allow for adjustments later.
  6. Install the Bottom Bolts
If you are using the mounting tubes, use the 1.25-inch bolts for the bottom mounting points:

    • Insert the bolts through the Sherpa Mini and the mounting tubes.
    • Secure them with washers and nuts on the back.

If you are not using mounting tubes, simply use the remaining 1-inch bolts to secure the bottom of the Sherpa Mini directly to the B2.

  7. Tighten Everything Down
Once all the bolts are in place (but still loose), check that the Sherpa Mini is level on the B2 carrier. Adjust as necessary by slightly shifting the position of the bolts.

    • After confirming it's aligned, tighten all the nuts and bolts securely using a 9/16-inch wrench or appropriate tools.
  8. Tips for Handling Small Parts
When working on the Sherpa Mini on your Sprinter Van, small nuts and washers can sometimes fall into hard-to-reach places on the B2 carrier.

    • Tip: Place a rag or paper towel in the crevices to catch any small parts that may drop while you're working.
  9. Repeat for the Other Side (If Applicable)
If you have a dual setup on your Sprinter Van, repeat this entire process for the other side of the B2 carrier.

  10. Final Adjustments
Go back and ensure everything is tightened securely. If you plan on mounting a box or other cargo, the Sherpa Mini should now be ready for use.

Notes:

  • If you are installing just the Sherpa Mini without tubes, the 1-inch bolts will suffice for all mounting points.
  • This installation should take only a few minutes, though disassembling and reassembling bike trays or other equipment may take longer.
