Install | NCV3 Roof Rack
Step-by-Step Instructions for Installing a Roof Rack on Your Sprinter Van
Step 1: Ensure You Have Roof Tracks Installed
- Before starting, make sure that your Sprinter Van has roof tracks installed. This could be an OEM Mercedes roof track or another brand like VanTech. The roof rack will mount directly onto these tracks.
Step 2: Identify and Assemble the Mounting Brackets
- When you receive your roof rack for the Sprinter Van, there will be some assembly required for the feet, which are the brackets that mount the roof rack to the van's roof tracks.
- You will have two types of foot bracket pieces. One has a larger pill-shaped slot, and the other has a smaller pill-shaped slot.
- To assemble one foot bracket, select one piece with a large pill slot and one with a small pill slot.
Step 3: Assemble the Foot Bracket
- Place the bracket with the larger pill slot against the Sprinter Van roof track. This will be the base bracket.
- Position the smaller pill slot bracket behind it, aligning the two brackets together.
Step 4: Insert the Screws and Washers
- Insert four thinner Allen head screws through the holes of the two assembled brackets.
- Add a washer onto each screw before inserting it.
- Push the screws from the inside out (from the back of the bracket).
- On the backside of the bracket, place another washer and secure it with a nut.
Step 5: Prepare to Mount the Bracket to the Roof Rail
- The assembled foot bracket will now slide into the roof rail track of your Sprinter Van.
- The base of the foot bracket will go under the roof rail, while an aluminum flat bar will sit on top of the rail.
- Once aligned, remove the nuts and washers from the bracket bolts to get ready to mount it.
Step 6: Slide the Bracket into the Roof Rail
- Slide the assembled foot bracket into the roof rail of the Sprinter Van. This will allow the roof rack footing to be secured.
Step 7: Secure the Aluminum Flat Bar
- Place the aluminum flat bar above the roof rail.
- The foot bracket will sit underneath the rail, while the flat bar will sit on top. This sandwich structure ensures the roof rack is securely mounted to the roof track.
Step 8: Mount the Roof Rack Footing
- With the foot bracket in place, the roof rack footing will now sit on top of the flat bar.
- Insert the roof rack bolts through the footing and the flat bar, ensuring washers are placed on both sides of the bolts.
- Secure the bolts with nuts and tighten them down.
Step 9: Repeat for Remaining Foot Brackets
- Repeat the same assembly process for the remaining five foot brackets. You will have six foot brackets in total: two in the front, two in the middle, and two in the back of the Sprinter Van.
Step 10: Tighten and Secure All Foot Brackets
- Once all the foot brackets are installed and aligned properly along the roof of your Sprinter Van, go back and tighten all bolts and nuts securely.
- Ensure that the roof rack is firmly in place, with all brackets and footings tightened and secured to the roof track.
