Install | AntiGravity Battery

Steps to Install the Anti-Gravity Battery in Your Sprinter Van:

1. Access the Battery Compartment

  • Remove the Trim Plate: Start by removing the trim plate covering the battery. Unscrew the screws holding the trim in place and lift it off.
  • Remove the Floor Mat: Once the trim plate is off, lift out the rubberized floor mat. It is separate from the passenger side, so simply lift and set it aside.

2. Remove the Battery Tray Cover

  • Loosen the Torx Bolts: The battery tray is held in place by four Torx bolts. If your Sprinter Van has fewer, that’s fine; just loosen and remove the bolts holding the tray cover.
  • Remove the Tray Cover: To remove the cover, slide it back and up. This will give you access to the battery.

3. Remove the Battery Bracket

  • Locate the Bracket: You will see a metal bracket holding the battery in place. This bracket is secured by two 10mm bolts on either side of the battery.
  • Unscrew the Bolts: Use a 10mm socket to remove the two bolts. Once unscrewed, lift off the bracket to free the battery.

4. Modify the Bracket for the Anti-Gravity Battery

  • The anti-gravity battery is slightly longer than the factory battery, so a minor modification is required.
  • Grind or Sand the Bracket: There are two small areas on the bracket that need to be ground down or shaved off. Use a grinder, knife, or sandpaper to remove a bit of material from these areas. This will allow the new battery to fit snugly.
  • Check Fitment: After grinding the edges, ensure that the anti-gravity battery fits properly into the tray with the bracket.

5. Install the Anti-Gravity Battery

  • Position the Battery: Place the anti-gravity battery into the tray, ensuring it sits properly.
  • Reinstall the Bracket: Once the battery is in place, reinstall the modified bracket over the battery using the two 10mm bolts to hold it securely.

6. Reassemble the Battery Cover and Trim

  • Reattach the Battery Tray Cover: Slide the battery tray cover back in place, aligning it with the original bolt holes. Secure it with the Torx bolts.
  • Replace the Floor Mat and Trim Plate: Place the rubberized floor mat back into its position, and then reinstall the trim plate over the battery compartment.

7. Test the Battery

  • After completing the installation, turn on your Sprinter Van and test the battery to ensure everything is functioning as expected.

Note:

  • The anti-gravity battery is slightly larger, but with this modification, it will fit securely in the original compartment. Make sure the bracket is properly fastened to hold the battery in place.
