Material Selection

Aluminum Where It Matters:
Our main underbody skid plates are crafted from durable 6061 aluminum, offering full protection without unnecessary weight. This lets us maximize coverage while maintaining performance. -
Steel Where It Counts:
Differential skids take the most abuse—they’re the first to hit the rocks and the last to leave them. That’s why we use steel for both front and rear differential covers. We tested aluminum here, and it failed immediately on tough terrain.
Interlocking Shape
Typical skid plates are segmented, leaving gaps that catch on rocks and ruts. Owl’s system interlocks front to back, forming a continuous flat surface that helps your Grenadier slide cleanly over obstacles. Less hang-up, more momentum.
Pro-Line Protection with UHMW
Our Pro-Line skids add a layer of UHMW (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) — a premium material used in racing and rock crawling for two key reasons:

High Molecular Weight - exceptionally high molecular weight, ranging from 3 to 6 million, which gives it unique properties like high abrasion resistance

Slippery surface: Ultra low friction allowing you to glide over rocks better than "sticky" aluminum.

Durable and replaceable: It absorbs abuse so your metal skids don’t have to. When worn, simply replace the UHMW instead of the whole plate.
An added bonus? UHMW reinforces the aluminum beneath, increasing overall rigidity and protection.

During R&D, we found that the center cross member was a weak point on higher-rated trails. Our solution: a boxed steel X-brace replacement that’s not only stronger but also sits several inches higher, improving your breakover angle and ground clearance.
Real-World Testing in Moab
We didn’t just build on theory—we took our skids to Moab and ran the world’s most punishing trails. The result? What we believe to be the most protective skid system ever made for the INEOS Grenadier.

What is UHMW?
What is UHMW?
UHMW (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) is a premium, abrasion-resistant plastic commonly used in racing, rock crawling, and industrial applications. It’s a type of polyethylene with an exceptionally high molecular weight—typically between 3 to 6 million—which gives it extraordinary durability, low friction, and high impact resistance.
These properties make UHMW ideal for skid plates: it slides easily over rocks, absorbs heavy impacts, and protects the metal structure underneath. Unlike typical plastics, UHMW is not injection-molded—it's sold in solid sheets and machined like aluminum, making it more expensive but far more capable in demanding off-road environments.

Canceled Orders
We want all customers to be happy with their purchases but in the event of a canceled order, we cannot recoup the fees charged to us by the credit card companies. When an order is placed, the credit card company takes a percentage of the sale, typically 5%-6% This is money that DOES NOT go to us and we do not get this charge given back to us when we refund an order. Therefore, if someone buys a suspension and then cancels, we pay the credit card company several hundreds of dollars that we cannot get back. Although you may not have noticed, it is industry standard for larger dollar items to have a "restocking fee" of 15% or more. We do our best to charge exactly what we get charged by the credit card company when you cancel an order. In the event of a canceled order, the 5%-6% that the credit card company charges us cannot be refunded. Please make note of this before you order.
• All canceled orders over $1000 paid with a "Credit Card" will have a 5% credit card processing fee that cannot be returned.
• All canceled orders over $1000 paid with a "Shop Pay Installments" will have a 6% credit card processing fee that cannot be returned.
